Conference Programme

The conference addresses the following main questions:

  • What would count as a personal transformation for me?
  • What makes an educational experience transformative?
  • How do our educational institutions need to change in order for learning to become genuinely transformative?

The conference is structured as a process of open, experiential sharing, reflection and mutual support, based on the following three beliefs:

  • decision-making about education is an inclusive process that involves the full spectrum of stakeholders ¨C from students to government officials. Hence we strongly encourage participation by multi-constituency teams from or concerned with educational institutions

  • institutional change be gins with transformation within the individual. A safe, open and honest atmosphere is therefore a prerequisite for personal reflection, in order that every participant can speak from their own experiences and feelings with confidence.

  • understanding what 'transformation' means in the context of one's own education involves identifying the personal and societal ideals that one wants to pursue. Once these goals have been identified, it is possible to undertake tangible efforts to achieve them.
